Online Mother’s Day Gift Idea’s

It seems early to be thinking about Mother’s Day but. let’s just say it… things are all screwed up in our world right now – and this year you are probably going to need some online Mother’s Day gift ideas in order to celebrate MOM in the way she deserves.

I don’t know about you, but Easter kinda snuck up on me. I really didn’t get to take advantage of purchasing my typical Easter fare because I was so far behind the 8 ball with dealing with our new / temporary “normal!”

AH – but now I’m ready and said to Danni this week – if we are going to do something for Mother’s Day, we really should be putting together online Mother’s Day gift ideas NOW so we all receive our packages in time.

We’ve tried to include a mix of local, national and mainstream items Mom will love.

SO – in the words of Babe (one of my fav characters on Grace and Frankie) :

KW Jewellery

This Kelowna based jewellery designer has beautiful and unique items for mom. As an added bonus, for a limited time, they are selling some gorgeous earrings with 100% of the cost being donated to a Food Bank of your choice. What an amazing way to give back while treating mom too!

I’ve always been a fan of uncommon goods, because I love the unique, cool items they have and the quality has been superb every single time I have ordered. Like an online craft market, Uncommon Goods connects artists and shoppers in one easy place. This is where you will find a plethora of online Mother’s Day gift ideas!

One of my most favourite things right now is this personalized garden sign. What a cool gift for a mom whose children live all over the country, or even just a few miles away.

No matter what your mom loves, there is something on this site for her. The worst thing about it? Choosing!

Pie Junkie

If you are local to the YYC area, you may or may not know about this delightful traditional pie shop. These gorgeous handcrafted pies – offered in both sweet and savoury selections, are sure to impress mom. Order ahead for contactless pick up, or order through Skip the Dishes / Door Dash for delivery right to mom’s door.

If mom has a sweet tooth, or loves flaky buttery pastry – these pies are a perfect online Mother’s Day gift idea.

Find Pie Junkie HERE and support local business if you live in the YYC area.

Shop the Mall – At home

If you are not a proficient online shopper you are lucky. Most likely your inbox is not littered with the latest offerings from every store you have investigated after a few too many glasses of vino 🙂 While younger moms do much of their shopping for EVERYTHING online, us older moms are still just dipping our toes in the water.

Here’s the thing – if mom has a favourite store, now is the time to buy. Most stores are offering free shipping and returns to encourage e-commerce and much of the new spring and summer stock is being offered at discounted prices.

If your mom is a Banana Republic lover, frequents The Loft, or is coveting something special from Holt Renfrew – it is the best time to press “BUY NOW!

A word to the wise, ORDER SOON if you are going this route. The shipping from many of the popular chain stores is much slower than usual. Count on 2 – 3 weeks for delivery.

Rocky Mountain Soap Company

We LOVE LOVE LOVE this company!! Not only are they a Canadian company, they focus on ALL NATURAL ingredients (have you met Danni?) 🙂 They make a fab hand sanitizer, and other practical delights but also create beautiful gift boxes perfect for mom.

We are loving that you can build your own gift set complete with a whimsical hand painted box, ribbon and tag, OR pay a few dollars extra and have them wrap it for you – perfect for delivery to Mom’s door.

Fit and Fab

Help mom fill her time with an online subscription to one of the many fantastic “on demand” options available for fitness.

From barre and yoga to hard core fitness challenges, there is a service mom will love. Make it complete with “at home” fitness tools like a mat, bands, hand weights or pilates ball.

Support Local Eats and Blooms

No matter where in the world you live, if there are government mandated shut downs, one of the hardest hit is the restaurant industry. We are dying to frequent our fav spots here in YYC but in order for them to come back stronger than ever, we need to support them! If your mom’s go-to is currently closed, consider purchasing a gift card for future use. Many restaurants are offering this option if they are not open for delivery / pick up and it is a great way to show both mom AND the restaurant that you are there for them.

Perhaps consider adding a monthly floral delivery. Fresh flowers are always appreciated and especially on a drab random Monday! Another option is checking out local horticulturalists and having your moms potted outdoor plants completed for her.

Our YYC favs are Amborella Floral and ESME Beautiful

Lastly, many catering companies offer special meals delivered right to Mom’s door. Check out your fav and find out what they are offering for Mother’s Day. If in YYC Devour Catering did a beautiful and inexpensive dinner for Easter for my parents that was delightful.

Homemade Love

If you’ve sworn off shopping of any kind until this is all over – we feel you. If you are not feeling the online Mother’s Day gift ideas, it’s all good. All mom really wants is some homemade love anyways. Take some time and make our BEST CHOCOLATE CAKE or LEMON SHORTBREAD TARTS or even our PEACH BLUEBERRY CRUMBLE and deliver it to mom’s door step. Bring a lawn chair – sit out on her driveway and have a “long distance” dessert chat.

All she really wants is to see your face anyways…
